Kirk Session
Moderator: Rev Jeff Martin
Session Clerk: Mrs Jean Martin
The Kirk Session in the presbyterian system of church organisation is the body responsible to an individual congregation. It is composed of Elders who have been ordained and appointed to membership, and is convened by the minister who acts as Moderator. The Session Clerk is responsiible for the maintenance of the administration of the Session and congregation.
The Session has a total of 33 elders, of which 23 elders each look after a district which will have a number of homes. The elders maintain contact with the members in their district and act as a link between them and the minister and congregation as a whole.
Certain other elders have specific roles within the organisation of the church’s affairs including the treasurer and property convener.
The Kirk Session meets five times per year.
